For those who voted "Love is Patient", . . . you win! It got a blue ribbon at this years Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts annual competition. I learned a lot by attending this years seminar. Most importantly I realized just how much manipulation people do to prized pictures in Photoshop. I had always been more of a naturalist presenting the pictures "As-is" figuring that Photoshop is more of a crutch to fix what couldn't be done naturally "In-camera". But after really analyzing some of the pictures that were ranked highly I can appreciate some of the effects done post-production.
For those keeping track, Love is patient got 42% of the vote with The Eternal Promise coming in second at 28% and the other two at 14% each.

PPAM Award Winning Prints
So a couple of weeks ago we participated in the annual convention for the Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts (PPAM). We entered a few of our favorite pictures from the 2007 season into their competition. It's really a big deal because it's really the best of the best of all photographers in the state. There are three levels of recognition; white, red and blue (blue being the best). They didn't give out many blue's this year, so it's quite an honor.
One of these got Blue, the rest Red. Can you pick which got the Blue Ribbon? Complete the survey to the left!

Our very first Blog!!
OK, so people have been asking for quite some time if I'd start a blog. I've thought about it and was really against it for a while but finally cracked. We'll see if I can keep up with this and keep it interesting.
We're at the very beginning of the 2008 season looking at a great year coming up. We've got some wonderful clients already scheduled and we keep meeting with more and more wonderful people for the 2009 season as well. It's only March and we've already had two weddings this year, . . . so only 51 to go! Our 2009 season is shaping up very well with 13 already! That's a great start!
I can't wait to get going with this blog and posting some nice pictures you can hopefully grab off here for examples of pics you might like. Hopefully I'll also add some posts that are a bit tutorial in nature for clients who are researching photography. Things that can kind of show you what to look out for and questions to ask you may not have thought of.

High School Senior Portraits
We're pushing real hard this year to jump into the very competative High School Senior Portrait field of photography. For many years now we've specialized in Wedding photography and have become very successful at it. We've shied away from seniors because we knew if we were going to do we'd have to do it big. Well, we started gearing up for it in January and are still steaming ahead in preparation for this season. We're purchasing a ton of studio equipment, backdrops, lighting and much much more. We want to be able to hit the ground running, ready and able to offer everything our competition offers- at a better price.
We've waigered quite a bit for this. I've quite my day job (yes, I've been doing 60+ weddings a year while still working full time to provide my family with benefits). Now finally it's all coming together. Wish us luck!!! Oh, and of course if you know anyone who's a senior next year- give us a shout out!
