On Stage Dance Studio

This weekend is all dance. We're doing two full day sessions at Gina Kinsella's On-Stage Dance Studio in Brockton. The kids range in age from kindergarten to 12th grade and styles range from ballet to pop, jazz and hip-hop. It's a lot of fun.

Happy First Birthday Morgan!!!

Morgan turned 1 on the day of the shoot and she was a perfect little model. Sure she wanted to get up a bunch, but what did doesn't?! Kevin really had a fun time to posing for the camera. It was a morning session so the kids were wide awake and not cranky at all. We got some fun shots and some traditional formal shots.

Maura and Tony - Duxbury Beach

That's right, it's not too early for engagement sessions. In fact, its actually the perfect time of year. The beaches are empty, so we can do quite a bit without restriction and without other people getting in the way. The town beach in Duxbury is quickly becoming one of my favorite beach locations for shoots. During swimming season it's a town beach that requires a sticker, unless you show up late in the day.

I tried out some new lighting equipment on this shoot. Although I think the pictures came out beautiful, I quickly learned that my current system is way better than the one being proposed by Nikon. . . It didn't have any impact on the pictures though!

Spring Portrait Special

Our annual Spring Portrait Special is taking on a whole new feel. This year's focus is on babies, but please don't let that stop you if you're not quite 'there' yet. Here's the deal, $50 in studio for unlimited pictures, outfits and poses per couple/family. You'll get all your pictures on DVD with a copyright release. Real nice and easy! This special is basically going to run until the High School Senior Portrait sessions start to kick in mid-summer, so if you want in please contact us sooner rather than later.

Also, we're offering something a little new. Host a Picture Night for your family and friends. Give it a theme such as Glamor Shots for the girls, or have it during the day for all the babies you know. We can either come to you and set everything up at your place or you can come here. Bring in all your couple friends for pictures, or get all your friends with kids together and we'll go through them all for only $50 per couple/family. Same deal, get all the pictures on DVD with a copyright release. We've done this a few times and it is really fun. On top of all that, if you're the host and bring more than 5 couples/families you get yours free!

The kids don't have to be perfect and we don't have to worry how many pictures we're going to take. Let them get goofy and truly capture who they are instead of screaming at them to sit up strait and smile.

For a slight additional fee we can do magic to your pictures by smoothing the skin, brightening your eyes, whitening your teeth and flushing your cheeks. This lady is 53 and has 4 kids!
OK, she's not 53, but still. . . she does have 4 kids though. . .
We can set up anywhere and really make it a casual fun experience.

Our first attempt at an ad

I was so excited to create an ad, put a lot of time into and was very proud. That is, until a friend asked "Did you pay attention to the words in the music?" Oops. . . maybe it's not the best to put on the website. Not quite 'bridey'. But now I think it's hysterical and definitely worthy of the Blog. I just wanted to take this opportunity to update you on a few things going on here at Berryphotos. I’ll keep it short and sweet:

• We updated our website and there’s two great links off the wedding page. The first is an online form you fill out just before your wedding that gives us a bunch of info we need for the wedding day and gives you a PDF of helpful tips http://www.berryphotos.com/WeddingInfoForm.html.
• The second is an online form that aids in the album ordering process and offers price lists, cover options and a whole bunch more http://www.berryphotos.com/AlbumLayout.html . Hopefully those will be helpful to you.
• Speaking of albums, we have created a blog that shows every album we’ve laid out in the past year. The cool thing is you can search by reception location or church, so maybe there’s one for your reception location you could check out http://berryphotosalbums.blogspot.com/.
• OK, Economy. I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve reverted all our album, print and framing prices to their 2007 prices! We know the economy is tough, so rather than raise our prices, we’re lowering them – hoping to get more sales. Pretty simple, but helpful to you too J
• Along that theme, I just wanted to remind you of our referral program. For any new client that signs a contract and simply mentions your name you get a $100 credit toward your album, prints and framing orders. We’re not asking you to be our sales team, we simply want to offer a humble and genuine Thank You if you were so kind as to refer someone to us. There are a lot of bridal attendants, friends and co-workers out there. . .

Three more sample albums

Our goal this winter was to create three sample albums to place at some of our favorite venues. Just this past week we dropped off albums at White Cliffs in Plymouth and the Coonamessett Inn in Falmouth. This coming week we plan on dropping the third at the Seaport hotel and World Trade Center in Boston. This year we'll be keeping an eye out for additional venues to add to this list. Things we look for are how they treat their brides and grooms, how they treat their vendors, availability of great photography locations and feedback from clients.

One thing we refuse to do is pay to add our name to a venue's "Preferred vendor list". Some venues actually have their preferred vendors pay to be on their list. That's either called advertising, or kick-backs, but it just doesn't seem right. I guess those locations prefer money.

Any place we associate with will refer us because they've worked with us and know our service and product and feel comfortable referring us to their clients.
